24.11 Release Notes

Content is subject to change until the official release on April 26th, 2025.

If you end up pulling holds in the time snatched between other to-dos, you’re going to love this new Circulation feature. Introducing the Tasks tab! Get a list of holds that need to be pulled, at your site or ones that are going to other sites (ILL), and process them right from the Tasks tab.

When a kid comes up and asks for books about wizard, have you ever wished you could do a catalog search right in Circulation? Now you can! Introducing the Find Item with Smart Search command, SS.

Exports now in the style of the Redesign! Open Exports in your existing tab from Operations. The best thing about it is field mapping—we think this interface is so much easier to use!

Legacy interfaces are going away later this year, so we’ve removed the ‘getting used to it’ button from Circulation. Read What is the ‘makeover’ and why is it better? to learn more.

Localization

  • We’ve updated some translations.

Authority Control

  • We’ve made some improvements to Authority Control-type fields in Items and Patrons Management, so they should be easier to work with.

Circulation

  • In Circulation, you can make your cursor go back to the command line at any time without touching the mouse by using the new shortcut SHIFT + C.

Items

  • You asked, we listened! Use your system shortcut to paste cover art in Items Management. You can still drag-and-drop or browse for an image as usual.
  • The Link Text field now has a larger limit when you are adding links from the Other tab. Note that you can always switch to MARC view to enter more information.

Inventory

  • When declaring items lost in the new Inventory (beta), you now have the option to forgive all associated overdue fines for those lost items.

Search

  • Explore panes now have a back button to allow users to easily go back to the previous pane.
  • Scout summary details have been updated to match the format in Search.
  • It’s nice to have a lot of options when you are searching…except when it’s not. If your students get overwhelmed by everything going on in Search, but you still want to give them all the options that Scout doesn’t have, you can simplify the interface by hiding the Filters and Options by default. (Pair that with a Default View of Shelf!)
  • Do you want to make things more visual for your patrons? We know you love the Shelf view, so now you can set a Default View for Search/Explore/Browse! Look under Searching > Search Controls where you can set the view to Brief, Summary, or Shelf. Thanks to Heather for working with us on this one!

Builder

  • Do you make Maps in Alexandria? Now you can tie a map to a Copy Location, not just a call number range! Be aware that the rest of Alexandria still looks for maps according to call number; we’ll continue to improve this over the next few releases.

Slideshow

  • Slideshow is where you can promote books for your patrons, usually on a library display. We designed it to fit really well on certain types of screens, like a small iPad…but we can do better now. So we’ve made Slideshow fullscreen and it will match the width of your display or browser window. Thanks to Heather for sending in this idea!

Researcher

  • Researcher Hub and all of Bulletins are now full-screen, meaning they will adjust according to the size of your device/display.

Textbook Tracker

  • We know that not all your items in Textbook Tracker are ‘textbooks’. So we’ve added a Type designation for every title, so you can mark it as a textbook, electronic resource, equipment, or consumable/workbook.

Circulation

  • Title Assistant now starts with focus on the first (ISBN) field so you can immediately scan and go!
  • Copy barcode now shows for reservations in the Circulation > Reservations tab.

Items

  • The MARC editor no longer makes it look like you can add an 852 tag (because you can’t!).

Operations

  • Column headers in some reports went missing. We found them.
  • Label rows are now properly updating in the interface when you change the number of rows.
  • Overdue Items or Unpaid Charges Notice:
    • Now consistently shows an estimated cost
    • Handles long charge descriptions better so they don’t cover up other information
    • Shows a more accurate amount due
    • No longer lists replacement cost twice
    • Now sends emails

Search

  • Printing in Search was showing Title Call Number even though we told it to use Copy Call Number. The answer was that it had the Copy Call Number…in the wrong spot. Now when you print, you’ll get that Copy Call Number the same as seen in results!

Preferences

  • z39.50 servers now play nicely when you want to rearrange them.

Builder

  • Slideshow setting for ‘recently added’ wasn’t always working correctly and we’ve give it a stern talking to.
  • Bulletin Board URLs now include site information so you can better link to boards.

Add-Ons

  • Clever is now syncing nightly as expected since a recent security update.
