Highlights

Nicknames

If some of your patrons are more often known by their Nickname, they probably appreciate being addressed by that name. Now all notices sent from Alexandria are addressed to their Nickname if they have one.

Also, nicknames are once again showing in the patron lookup window!

Security

Do you have student aides helping with circulation? You might not want them to have access to items another student has checked out. We’ve added a new security option for ‘View Details and Items out’, so you can turn this off for any relevant security group.

New and Improved

Operations

  • You can now find the Change utilities for terms ‘grade’ and ‘homeroom’ (instead of just ‘level’ and ‘location’).
  • When a file is imported via FTP and field mapping isn’t set, you’ll now get that feedback in the summary file, so that you know what to fix in the saved import!
  • If you want to share the Loaned Items Information report with a teacher to help them identify books left in the classroom, you can now sort that report by copy barcode to make it easier to pick out the book on the list!
    • This idea came from Jackie from Mazzuchelli Catholic Middle School.
  • Pull Lost Copies by Department so you can help specific teachers be more vigilant about getting books returned.
  • Export Items, Titles Only includes all titles, even if all copies are discarded or removed. We’ve added a new option to “Exclude titles where all copies are lost/discarded/removed” (which doesn’t count electronic resources).
  • The Circulation Export now includes Call Number, so if you are using this export to hunt down books, you can find them!

Preferences

  • We’ve made some improvements to our Spanish and Portuguese translations.

Textbook Tracker

  • Textbook Tracker users, did you know you have your own Offline mode? We’ve added a button to Tools. We also added a button for Activity, which is an optional add-on (learn more).

Fixed

Alexandria has improved caching and smoother imports, so you might notice things are a bit faster!

Items

  • When entering a series in Items Management, you’ll now be able to autofill from existing terms. Did you know you can clean up your series in Authority Control? (Learn more).

Circulation

  • The Reservations tab in Circulation now shows the dates properly when the title is really long.
  • When Gumdrop is enabled (in your Services Preferences), they now show in the Vendors menu in Circulation.

Operations

  • In some cases, Overdue Items or Unpaid Charges notice and information reports weren’t returning results. This has been fixed.
  • We fixed some issues with the the Interlibrary Loans – Overdue at Other Sites report.
  • Cover art in the Overdue Items or Unpaid Charges notice is working once again!
  • We’ve added a more helpful tooltip to the barcode list on report/utility selections.
  • We’ve added better validation for email notifications (for operations). Please ensure all emails you are entering are accurate emails.

Search

  • Oops—our recent change to get maps by copy location hid the copy location from the maps dialog. It’s back now!
  • Title sorting in Search now handles non-filing characters.
