25.4 Release Notes

Highlights

You now have the option to email transaction receipts (D command). For those emails and Email Patron Details, you can choose to send to the patron’s primary email or all of their emails. This means you can easily share lost items with parents to muster their help!

How are Lists in Search sorted? By default, the ‘relevance’ sort for lists is the order you added items to the list. But now you can reorder your lists! Look under the edit list menu for “Reorder list”.

New and Improved

We’ve made continued improvements to accessibility for Librarian and Kiosk interfaces.

We’ve improved how the message drawer (in the topnav) shows new operations.

Circulation

  • The patron email on the Process Found Item dialog is now showing the correct address.
  • Use your system menu item or shortcut (e.g. command-P) to print the Transaction Log! Instead of trying to print the Circulation page, Alexandria now generates a full print file of your current Transaction Log.
  • The Cash Drawer report now shows the selected date range on the report.

Operations

  • When you’re looking at Patrons > Statistics you can now click the different pieces of data and Alexandria will take you to where you can learn more.

Researcher

  • All languages are now always shown natively, so users can select a language they know.
  • Items without Maps don’t let you see the map window, in Circulation or in Search. But sometimes Copy Location tells you where the item is located, as supplementary or in more detail than a Map would. So we’ve not only added Copy Location to the Map window, but now you and your patrons can click the map icon and see the location even when there is no Map associated with that item.

Textbook Tracker

  • Adding and incrementing copy-tag happens automatically when creating new textbooks.

Fixed

  • We’ve improved monetary values for settings of 0 decimal places.

Circulation

  • The patron email on the Process Found Item dialog is now showing the correct address.
  • We accidentally hid the option to forgive part of a charge (without an additional payment) while trying to improve Charges and Credits. The option is back—you can select Forgive as a payment option for charges!

Patrons

  • You can not change security for patrons of equal or higher security than yourself…but now you can SEE it!

Items

  • Sometimes Items Management wanted you to save the record when…you didn’t change anything…so that’s better now.

Operations

  • Too many saved reports (hundreds and hundreds) was slowing down the Reports interface and making it misbehave. We’ve solved the problem. We also recommend reviewing your saved reports (and labels/notices) and removing records that you aren’t using.
  • Some copy labels didn’t like it when the Study Program set for the label was empty. We’ve assigned a default to fix it.
  • Top Circulated Titles report wasn’t always showing the correct number of copies and we’ve adjusted it.
  • Accented characters were not showing correctly on Monthly Checkout Per Patron report, and we’ve fixed it!
  • If you have a large number of policies in your dataset, you may have trouble saving operations (e.g. reports). We’ve improved the selections so that you can now save your reports et al! We recommend cleaning up your data to keep your Alexandria running smoothly.
  • In some rare instances, reports will stop generating pdfs. If you encounter this issue, please contact Customer Support!

Researcher

  • Browse Highest Rated Titles has been improved! Also, the number next to start ratings in Researcher now shows the number of reviews, not the rating.

Add-Ons

  • We’ve improved connections with SchoolDay when adding new patrons on daily sync.
