Spelling Suggestions

What happens when your patrons spell a word incorrectly in Alexandria? Hopefully they know how to use the tools built into your browser, but in case they don’t, Alexandria now has a new tool for spelling suggestions! Find the new ‘Did you mean’ dropdown menu underneath the search bar in Search and Scout!

Patron Details Letter

We’ve added a new Patron Details Letter, so that when you email patron details from Circulation you have a standard set of text to work from. The letter also fills in the Email Patron Details notice!

Email Verification

There’s a new security setting to request email verification! This is most useful for your operators, but you can turn it on for any security group. We’ve turned it on automatically for administrators.

Email verification was added in 25.7 so you can ensure your operators have valid emails and can reset their passwords.

IMPORTANT

All operators with a security group of Administrator or higher will thus automatically receive a verification email the first time they sign in after this update. Verify your email to stop receiving this notification.

New and Improved

Circulation

  • Item Lookup in Circulation sites dropdown is now limited to the sites the operator has access to. Note that Titles don’t belong to a single site so this depends on copies.

Operations

  • Overdue Notice (and other) Mailing Labels now are addressed to the patron by default, with an option to address them to the additional contact instead.
  • We’ve made some minor improvements to the Patron Programs report.
  • The Check In utility now has a selection for Title, so you can check in all copies of a title (e.g. before removing the title).
    • Thanks to Pam from Hobbs Municipal Schools for this idea.
  • Missing cover art in reports and notices is now indicated by an outline. This helps spacing and clarity in your notices!
    • Thanks to The Library at the German International School of Portland for this idea.

Researcher

  • The Slideshow predefined search for Recently Added Titles has been changed to look for items from the last 90 days to 120 days.

Services

  • The Mitinet EnhanceMARC operation now also returns a Mitinet Reading Program Updates file; click the ‘misc’ file on the EnhanceMARC operation in the Operations Queue to download it.

Fixed

Circulation

  • Bringing up copies with the X command in Circulation (e.g. x1234) that are In Processing now correctly respects the X and won’t just bookdrop them.
  • Alexandria was doing some shady things when a hold was declined from the ILL tab in Circulation. We’ve banished the ghosts.
  • Alerts for upcoming Reservations are once again showing when items are checked in.
  • The In Transit Hold dialog was trying to say that the requesting patron’s site was…the current site. Not helpful. It now shows the correct site.

Items

  • Alexandria was getting a brain freeze when trying to duplicate copies with long barcodes. That’s no longer happening.
  • We’ve addressed some errors with adding new titles/copies.

Explore Builder

  • We fixed some minor issues in the new Explore Builder interface, including being able to click the pane URL.

Researcher

  • Links in Search results were sometimes trying to open two links. That’s unnecessary. Now it just opens one.
  • When adding multiple Slideshows, those other slideshows kept trying to use the name of the main default slideshow. Now they get their own names!

Operations

  • Lost/Discarded items with alphas in the barcode now show up properly on the Overdue Items or Unpaid Charges notices.
  • Sometimes cover art wouldn’t show for some items on the email format of Overdue Items or Unpaid Charges notice. We’ve fixed the issue.

Textbook Tracker

  • Selecting by Title on the Check Out utility in Textbook Tracker is now working better!
