In case of disaster

Floods, fires, earthquakes, or something as simple as a broken pipe could cause the loss of your library. Here’s some resources in Alexandria in case the worst happens.

Reports
Get some information on the items you lost.
(Operations > Reports)
- Brief Analysis – Generates statistics on item counts, purchase costs, and replacement costs.
- Title Information – Generates a list of titles with varying amounts of information, depending on the chosen format.
Notices
Keep your patrons in the loop.
(Operations > Notices)
- Send Email – Send a customizable email to a selection of patrons to provide information about what your patrons can expect from the library.
- To STOP scheduled notices from sending to patrons (such as not sending overdue item notices while the library is no longer open)
- From Notices, look for the schedule icon next to the report name from the list of saved notices on the left
- Select the notice to modify and on the Overview tab, uncheck the Schedule box and click Save

Utilities
To forgive fines that have accumulated since the incident:
- Go to Operations > Utilities, then unlock utilities with the padlock icon at the top right
- Click Add utility
- Select Patrons from the Categories on the left, then Forgive Charges from the templates on the right
- Click Create
- To remove ALL charges accumulated from a specific date range, go to the Options tab
- Enter the Transaction Starting Date and Ending Date
- Click Run and choose to either Just Run or Save and Run
- Confirm the utility
Policies
To stop the overdue fines from accumulating:
- Go to Tools > Policies
- Go to the Overdue tab for your Item Policy
- Ensure the Fine Rate and the Declare Lost When Overdue fields are set to 0
- Save the changes and check all remaining item policies
