Are you ready to begin(s-with search)?
January 26, 2026
Miss Honey is compiling a list of dystopian titles for an upcoming class project. When she does a SmartSearch for dystopian, she notices that the catalog leaves out a lot of titles. Instead, she should try a “begins-with” search—and now, it’s easier than ever.

Try a begins-with search

To perform a begins-with search, all you have to do is add an asterisk to the end of your search term (no quotations needed!). In the example above, Miss Honey could enter dystopia* into SmartSearch, and it will pull up results for dystopia, dystopian, dystopias etc. It’s as easy as that.
Thanks Kathy for this tip idea!
